ROAM
Client: SaaS Product
Challenge
Food truck operators face two problems no existing product solves together — customers have no way to know how long the wait is, and operators have no way to reach customers after they walk away
Solution
Built ROAM — a two-product platform with ROAM: Waitline for automatic wait-time intelligence and ROAM: Reach for location-aware subscriber notifications, both built on infrastructure the operator already uses
Result
Live and deployed for Zomburgers across a full season of events; packaged as a multi-tenant SaaS product with two commercial tiers and a formal IP disclosure covering the core estimation method
The Challenge
Food truck operators face two visibility problems: customers don't know how long the wait is, and once a customer walks away, the operator has no way to reach them again. Existing options — a whiteboard, a separate data-entry system, or nothing — don't solve either one, and any fix has to work without added hardware, extra staff effort, or an app download.
Our Solution
ROAM is a two-product platform built for roaming food service operations, using infrastructure the operator already has.
ROAM: Waitline generates self-updating wait estimates every two minutes from the operator's existing Square POS data and displays them right on the customer-facing menu — no staff interaction, no hardware.
ROAM: Reach builds on the same QR-code menu scan to offer customers a notification opt-in, then sends a push notification when the truck is heading toward their neighborhood ahead of its next stop.
What Operators Get
- Live wait-time display on the customer menu, with a kiosk view for the counter side
- Admin console for menu management, event scheduling, and image uploads
- Smart suppression for private events and catering, plus a clear fallback state instead of stale numbers
- One-tap subscriber opt-in with location-aware push notifications ahead of each stop
- Subscriber dashboard with opt-in counts and notification history
- Optional SMS channel alongside push
ROAM started as the digital menu platform for Zomburgers, then grew the wait-time and notification layers on top once proven in the field. It's now packaged as a multi-tenant SaaS product across two commercial tiers, each deployable to a new operator in a single onboarding session.
The Result
ROAM: Waitline ran through a full season of Zomburgers events — farmers markets, wineries, corporate stops, and private events across West Michigan — without a single manual wait-time update. The core estimation method is covered by a formal technical disclosure establishing it as novel IP, and both products are commercially packaged and ready for the next operator.
